Brazil is perhaps not the trip for everyone but it's one that you will never forget. The population consists of about 175 million Portuguese speaking people. Sometimes this figure is surprising since we tend to think of Brazil as being primarily rain forests. Sadly, although there are still areas of untouched rain forests, much of it is being clear-cut. Some of this natural beauty is destroyed everyday. Brazil like any developing country faces the problem of poverty. Despite this, it still is a perfect destination to be visited. Certain areas in Rio de Janeiro are better left out of your itinerary. You must know where to stay and where not to. Be aware of the current atmosphere of the places where you are staying in and avoid places that are unsafe. Bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Brazil has miles of wonderful beaches and many areas for water sports. One of the most famous destinations in Brazil is Ipanema Beach. It's in Rio de Janeiro and the beautiful people flock there. Since they wear little in the way of clothing, you may not want to take your whole family for a visit. For adults though, it's a prime people watching location. Rio de Janeiro is a fascinating and beautiful city that is worth a visit. The skyline is dotted with islands and mountains, making Rio simply stunning. The sugar loaf mountain and statue of Christ the Redeemer are must sees while visiting. Rio's people are full of energy and enjoy partying until the wee hours of the morning. If you are lucky enough to visit during Carnaval, you'll also be lucky if you get more than a few hours of sleep. One excellent day trip to work into your itinerary is the Amazon rainforest. You will find bird species and plants, the likes of which you've never seen. You may also stumble across abandoned Indian river villages. With so much "progress" going on, tribes have had to relocate deeper into the Amazon country. If you want more fun, then visit Jericoacoara. Jericoacoara is slowly attracting tourists who are mostly back packers. This fishing village offers one of the best wind surfing opportunities. If you wanted to get yourself relieved of the hectic life of the city, then this place offers a calm and graceful environment for you to relax. If you are traveling by air then the largest airport in Brazil is Rio. But depending on where you are flying from, you can choose the city you wish to land at. To visit different parts of Brazil, air travel is the best option as Brazil is a big country. Air travel is very costly and the next best option is to take a bus ride which allows you to enjoy the wonderful surrounding while traveling. Brazil is a wonderful country filled with wonderful people. While it has had its problems in the past, many people still flock to the balmy temperatures and fun loving atmosphere that the Brazilian people have cultivated.
