The Ford Iron Man Contest held in Tempe Arizona between April 10th and 15th involves a 2.4 mile swim a 112 mile bike ride and a 26 mile run. Traveling to Tempe Arizona to witness the Iron Man Contest can be an exiting and invigorating journey for the participant and the spectator. The popularity of the contest held in the never failing sunny climate of Tempe Arizona has encouraged the City of Tempe  and  the nearby Salt River  Prima Maricopa Indian Community to agree to hold the contest a second time in November annually.
The Ford Iron Man Contest in Tempe is hugely popular. Nearly 2000 competitors take part in the contest every year. The entry fee is $450 and the athletes have 17 hours to complete the triathlon. The Swimming Competition is held at the Tempe Town Lake. The bike course starts and ends at the Tempe Beach Park.  And the running course starts and ends at the Tempe Town Lake Shore. The triathlon is held for different age groups and genders. Iron man camps are held to help athlete train for the contest along with the best athletes and former winners to train fro the main day.
The Spectator can not only egg on their favorite competitor but enjoy the local sights and flavors as Tempe offers a fiesta for the Iron Man contest. April and November are months with the best weather in Arizona. The Iron Man Athletes village offers a variety of shopping and Race day cafes and local eateries offer the local flavors of Arizona. The spectator gets a good view of the swimming contest from the bridge and the biking and running contest from the loop.
Booking early will help get air discounts and hotel bookings. The popularity of the race and the good weather is widely advertised by hotels offering packages.
For the athlete, booking a place and staying a few days early can help get acclimatized and after the grueling race stay a few days to relax. It is impossible to start out and travel the next day after the race.   Staying at a vacation rental is the ideal option. Vacation rentals offer more privacy and the athlete can practice for the race in peace and quiet. Many vacation rentals come with swimming pools and workout facilities. The athlete does not have to wait for specific timings as in the case of a hotel. The family of the athlete can stay with little extra cost as most vacation rentals come with extra sleeping places. The diet of the athlete can be strictly adhered to because of the fully fitted kitchens in the rental. A vacation rental offers the noise free atmosphere for the athlete for post race day relaxing.
The spectators can live the life of a local while viewing the race by living in a vacation rental. The spectator and the family can have more space than a hotel room. Several bedrooms come at the same cost per night compared to a single bedroom in a hotel. There are no interruptions of service personnel and noisy neighbors. The Schedule is flexible and there is no strict check in check out timings. The added expense of tipping every service person is not there.
Traveling to Arizona to witness the Iron Man Contest and staying at a vacation rental will give the athlete the relaxed and invigorating atmosphere to compete with nerves of steel and give the spectator an enjoyable and relaxed feel.
