So, it really doesn’t matter if you are married, live with a domestic partner or if you live with your current love, living with someone to whom you have a close relationship can cause stress. All too often when you live with someone and interact in close quarters every day, you are really opening yourself up to a high potential of stress. But with a commitment from both parties, stress does not have to be a given between you and your mate. Stress occurs when you feel that you are caught in the middle of those things that you have to do and yet feel that you can’t do. Sometimes it is as if you do not have the skills or the resources to complete the tasks that are placed in front of you. Close relationships, like those of a spouse or partner inevitably bring many stressful situations. We all have major lifestyle differences and yet we need to learn to live together. For example, we have differing perspectives on whether it is time to go to be at 9 or at 11, we have differing true interests and thoughts. There are differing ways in which we handle stress and stressful situations. Stress and your mate may seem all too common in your household especially as you adjust to the life and style of another person. This is really an issue when your ideals and preferences conflict. Too often stress results when either you or your partner are unrealistic or even unwilling to change. Couples must work together in order to keep stress at bay and to create a home of peace and harmony. If your mate is battling stress then you must provide a safe environment and a listening ear if your mate feels that talking would help to reduce stress. A mate filled with stress is not something that many people would choose to live with especially when there are other alternatives. Think about the resources available to you and to your mate to reduce stress and don’t just live with stress. There are other options available to you and to your mate.
